Finally! I have completed the Trio of the highly anticipated and sought out phone on the rebranded market. First was Cherry Mobile Titan, which was the first to pop out and continue to impress and elude customers and potential buyers respectively, it captivated hearts with its big snappy screen and good quality speaker loud or headsets attached with enough power to play HD Games. Second came MyPhone A919Duo, arguably the best of released rebranded phones as of today, FOR ME, also sporting a 5 Inch screen with better camera, better display and equally impressive loudspeaker quality of Titan and slightly worse headset audio quality. Finally, I get the chance to touch and feel and play with the Cloudfone Thrill 430x, the Thrill of the said 3-day battery life is amazing.
Continuous release of phones by rebranders often hinder and confuse buyers as to which to buy, luckily, I am here for you to help you decide which will suit you. So go on and read, let us see if the MyPhone A919 Duo, my personal favourite of the three, can be dethroned by a smaller, fatter competitor.

Oh Yeah, Cherry Mobile SkyFire review is out :)

1. THE PACKAGE (9.6 out of 10)

1.1 The BOX
I cannot stress how the box is a major factor for selling, and lucky for Cloudfone, I fell in love with it the moment I saw it, why? It’s Yellow! My University’s colour, the colour of the 2012 PCCL Champions and my best colour ever. The box is nicely done, ehem ehem, MyPhone A919 and for me, it looks very very interesting. Seen in my Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 Review, I am a sucker for yellow. The box reads:
Features Just For You:
IPS 4.3” QHD Capacitive Touch Screen
3-day Battery Life
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
8Mp Autofocus with dual LED Flash
Snapdragon 1.2 GHz Processor
4160maH Polymer Battery
1.2 What’s in the Box?

Unboxing time! Opening the box you see your unit and then comes your gargantuan Battery, yes, the battery is huge! Then you have a black generic charger, a sturdy USB cable, good stock headset, shit manuals and you get a free globe sim card! Yehey! The clincher in the package would have to be the headset included as it successfully worked on my Nokia N86, it also had good sound output, what annoyed me is that the headset does not indicate where the hell is the left or right! Oh yeah, the phone comes with a free SCREEN PROTECTOR, it’s not matte so I would still replace it.

GOOD TO KNOW FACT: THE ONE WITH THE MIC IS THE RIGHT :)) YEAH!

2. PHONE SUPERFICIALITY (6.8 out of 10)

Unfortunately for this phone, this does not go with the mainstream thinner is better, rather it approaches the market with its fat body, for a 4.3 Inch screen the phone feels very fat and heavy. The top houses a mic and the 3.5mm, the sides houses the volume rocker, the power button and a surprising camera button, I am surprised with this addition as Cherry and MyPhone did not even bother putting one, I can understand the Titan’s predicament choosing not to put a camera button as its camera sucks, but the Flare and A919 could produce good photos! The bottom houses the other mic and the usb port. The back has a different style of cover, it attracts fingerprints but not much, actually I found the back cool and I frequently touched it.

3. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

3.1 Speakers (8.6 out of 10)

One of the most important factor for me when choosing a phone, coming from Titan’s great quality, then disappointed by the Flare, but revitalized slightly revitalized by MyPhone, my belief of sound quality of rebranders became shaky, as I plugged the headset into the phone, I was amazed at how loud 430x delivers its music, I have read that this phone comes with a built in Built-in YAMAHA music amplifier with AAC speaker, guess it’s true. Loudspeaker performance does not disappoint either.

3.2 Display / Video Playback (9.2 out of 10)

All This Time by Six Part Invention

No I’m not kidding, the screen looks very good and crisp, and playing movies and games is a delight. Sporting a 4.3 Inch it produces enjoyable display, maybe due to its QHD Capacitive touch, whatever it is, it works, and it works very well. Comparing it to all my other phones, barring Samsung Galaxy S2, I found this to have the best display among the rebranded phones. The free non-matte screen protector may have further beautified the display. I have to add that sometimes, selections are smaller, check the settings picture, it is not in the format, they are just smaller than what I have been accustomed to.

3.3 Gaming (7.4 out of 10)

With its amazing display and sound, one may think this is an ideal platform for gaming, to your and my disappointment, gaming is not as smooth as that with the Titan, MyPhone so its miles away from the king of gaming Motorola Photon 4G. Mainstream games play quite well as I have tested Temple Run and Fruit Ninja. For the sake of HD testing I have tested NBA 2k13, I am deeply disappointed, on my MyPhone A919 I have successfully finished a season on NBA 2k13, here, I highly doubt I would play an entire season. Basically, this phone is not for HD Gaming.

3.4 Camera (8.7 out of 10)

These Images are from Thrill 430x.
MyPhone and Flare gave me new hope for rebranders camera, and the hope continues to rise with the Cloudfone Thrill, these are just sample images, but they look amazing, these are shot under artificial light in my room, and some are at the front of our house, more shots coming tomorrow.

Another catch on this phone’s camera is the VARIOUS options, this phone has had to have the most number of settings I have seen on an android phone, I’ll keep you guys updated on as to what the hell the functions do as I admittedly have no idea what most of them are for. Lastly, Cloudfone catches 3200x2400 Images at 8Mp in contrast with the usual 3264x2448.

3.5 Need for Speed (6.9 out of 10)

RAM and Clockspeed Review

Many of you might wonder, what are RAM and the Clockspeed for? Should I go for higher RAM, fewer clocks or vice versa? The answer depends on how you use the phone. Random Access Memory (RAM) is used to determine how many apps your unit can run simultaneously. So bigger RAM means you can multi-task much more applications without worrying about lagging on the system.
Clockspeed is used to determine how fast your system will run a certain application. Simply put, higher Clockspeed means faster phone. THIS IS THE GENERAL IDEA ON RAM AND CLOCKSPEED. Factors on speed are also determined by the chipset architecture, GPU, etc.
For its price range of P7777, you would expect speed at least comparable to the Titan or MyPhone, sad to say, it’s not as snappy as either, for me, it just a faster Flare. I knew beforehand that have the same snapdragon processor, but I honestly thought it would be as fast as the MyPhone. The speed is not that bad, it’s good enough but not great. The promised 4 GB internal is ok as 1.32 GB is allotted for apps and 1.76 GB is user accessible.

3.6 User-Friendliness (7.7 out of 10)

Another ICS Baby, Cloudfone Thrill 430x is very user friendly, and its size does not annoy people, apparently some people find 5 Inches uncomfortable. A first timer can easily manoeuvre the phone in 30 minutes or less and feel right at home. With tons of selection of FREE applications, games and customization options, I highly doubt any techie newbie will let go of the Android system. For now my dismay is that, unlike the MyPhone A919 which can run Micromax A110 Roms, I am yet to find custom roms for this phone. The last sentence is only for Android users who uses and enjoys the sweetness of custom roms. A ball buster on this phone is its inability to function properly when it is not held. When you are not holding the phone, it is very annoying and tedious to hard press buttons so it can open. Unless you hold your phone all the time, you won’t notice this, but for a lazy person like me it’s annoying.

3.7 Battery (8.5 out of 10)

This is Cloufone Coup De Grace Feature, the raison d’etre its stands its ground on the market, sporting a huge 4160mah Polymer Battery, and said to last three days, any android user would take a second look at this phone. Having been an Android user on different cell phones, I have first handedly experience the nightmare of overnight charging of Android, none of my previous phones was able to last two full days, the Motorola Photon 4G was the only one to make it a day and a half with my moderate usage. Back to the 430x, i am yet to fully stress test its battery, and over all I am not as impressed as I thought I would be but I am also not as dismayed as I thought. Here are initial findings:

Music 10 Minutes- 1%
Video 10 Minutes – 4%
Gaming 10 Minutes – 8%
Web Browsing 10 Minutes – 2%
YouTube 5 Minutes – 2%
Standby 2 Hours – 1%

The 8.5 Score is initial, I have a strong feeling it will go up ;)

CONCLUSION

BEAUTY IN THE BEAST (8.08 out of 10)
* Performance is 70%, Package and Looks are both 15% for the total of 100% YEHEY I KNOW MATH :))

A short while with the Cloudfone and the Rebrander releases keeps me interested to buy them all and review them all. With all the negative comments I have read about this phone I was sceptical to try it. I was bored so I decided why not give it a shot, and I am not regretting my decision. Bang for buck features include: Great speakers, lower volume than Titan and A919, but equally greater output headsets attached, Impressive Camera, Snappy Interface, initially good but not yet impressive battery life and rich colours to keep your eyes happy, this phone is a definitely another one to confuse you as to which of the three phones you will choose. If I am to be asked, Titan or Cloudfone, I would say Cloudfone, A919 or Cloudfone, I would say A919. Again these are all based on personal preference, Cloudfone Thrill 430x is an impressive device without a hefty price tag. Out of the three I doubt any choice is bad, everything would boil down to personal preference. I like picture taking, gaming and enjoy watching series so I pick A919. As of now, I still declare MyPhone A919 the King of Rebranders. Up next would be Cherry Mobile Skyfire and Cherry Mobile Flame.  Stay Tuned Guys :D

  5. regarding the internal memory, ganon talaga ang ICS. hinahati nya yung internal mo and di ka makakapagsave na applications/games sa external SD mo. pero I have a way para mtransfer mo yung games mo to external. yon nga lang, you need to root your device.
