*****CHERRY MOBILE TITAN VS MYPHONE A919 VS 430X HERE

                Holding the phone for almost a week now, I have yet to test the phone’s camera options. As stated on my review, this phone boasts the most options on any stock camera I have seen on an Android device. Finally, out of boredom, I decided to tinker with the devices’ camera options. All of the information that I will give mostly came from google. So here it is! Cloudfone 430x Camera Options Overview.

FIRST AND FOREMOST: I made this blog for noobs like me, I want to learn an maximize my phone and I wanted to share my findings.

Picture Quality: I have noticed no changes but only size decrease, Superfine has the largest file size

Saturation: Saturation is similar to contrast, however instead of increasing the separation between shadows and highlights, we increase the separation between colors.

What I Understood and observed: I have no idea as to what I just copy pasted but judging by the images Saturation maybe color dampening or color exaggeration of an image

Contrast: Contrast is defined as the separation between the darkest and brightest areas of the image. Increase contrast and you increase the separation between dark and bright, making shadows darker and highlights brighter. Decrease contrast and you bring the shadows up and the highlights down to make them closer to one another. Adding contrast usually adds "pop" and makes an image look more vibrant while decreasing contrast can make an image look duller.  

What I Understood and observed: Contrast adds shadows, as stated on the last statement, higher contrast makes the image more vibrant and decreasing contrast makes the image duller

Sharpness: Sharpness can be defined as edge contrast, that is, the contrast along edges in a photo. When we increase sharpness, we increase the contrast only along/near edges in the photo while leaving smooth areas of the image alone.

ISO: ISO measures the sensitivity of the image sensor. The same principles apply as in film photography – the lower the number the less sensitive your camera is to light and the finer the grain. Higher ISO settings are generally used in darker situations to get faster shutter speeds (for example an indoor sports event when you want to freeze the action in lower light) – however the cost is noisier shots.

What I Understood and observed: I was not able to observe any significant changes, the description is pretty basic, what changed was the size of the image ISO 100 is smaller

Wavelet Denoise Mode: The wavelet denoise plugin is a tool to reduce noise in each channel of an image separately. The default colour space to do denoising is YCbCr which has the advantage that chroma noise can be reduced without affecting image details.

ZSL: Shutter Lag is the delay between triggering the shutter and when the photograph is actually recorded.

Zero Shutter Lag allows for instant capture and freezing the exact moment that the photo is taken.

               Cloudfone Thrill 430x is one of today’s Rebrander’s Big Three, along with CherryMobile Titan and MyPhone A919. It melted hearts and swooned buyers with its colossal 4160mah battery, theorized to last three days with a price tag higher than the Titan but lower than A919. Aside from the battery, initial buyers could be pushed back by its unattractive form and heaviness. Physicality is not a major factor for me so I went for it and gave it a try. Finally, I have had the chance to fully test its capabilities in real life situations.

Friends’ Feedback

            Prior to acquisition of this phone, my friends and classmates did not even know of the Cloudfone Brand as they thought it was the name of a phone from either Cherry or MyPhone. As I asked them if I was to trade my A919 for this, most of them said no as most of them were impressed with the A919. Still, I pushed through with the deal. As I shoved it to their faces, most of them were also not impressive with its physical looks but they were surprised at its very clear screen. They were also amazed on how it sported a 4160mah battery along with my story on its performance. What I told them? Read on and find out for yourself.

The Stress Test

START! (100% at 2.45pm December 17)

           

            I acquired this phone on Sunday 1pm, and made initial tests with it, admittedly initially, I was not impressed as battery discharge percentage was dropping quickly. As I charged it at 9am it took me almost 6 hours to fully charge it, as 100% Mark was achieved at 2.45pm. One hour of music drained 5%. As I travelled from UST to Laguna, I played music on the LRT, played an hour of video on the bus and 30 Minutes of games, by 10pm my battery was at about 71%. At 10pm, I called my special someone and talked for almost 2 hours, by then my battery was at a whopping 68%, this is where I was extremely amazed. As I slept and woke up at about 6am, I was even more amazed to see 66% battery. YES ONLY TWO PERCENT DROP FOR 6 HOURS. At this point, I never plugged the phone to a charger and had faith that this will last me another day.

            As I went journeyed to UST at about 9am, I was stuck in heavy traffic, I was able to watch three 45-Minute Episode of The O.C. with a little bit of music, I reached UST at about 12nn with 44% battery and proceeded to more important stuffs like studying. A few texts here and there and my battery dropped to 43% at 2.30pm. After a brief studying I played for almost an hour, one thing I noticed was when playing games continuously when the machine heats up, it drastically drains the battery from then on. After gaming, I was down to about 25% and finally decided to go home. As I travelled from UST to Project 8, I listened to music and it drained my battery down to 20%. At 12mn, I decided to charge it with a hefty 13% battery left. I forgot to mention, the test was done on max brightness setting.

SUPER TEST OBSERVATIONS AND FINAL WORDS:

            With this super test here was what I was able to observe:

1.    On standby with light texting and calling, this phone could pretty much last a whole month – I find this stupid, why the hell would you spend P7777 and not use it?

2.    This phone is not even close to A919 or Titan when playing Games especially HD Games.

3.    The phone is pretty much just a faster Cherry Mobile Flare, admittedly not as smooth as the Titan or A919

4.    When Playing Music, slight pauses can be heard, no idea why

5.    It has a very impressive audio output earphones attached

6.    When plugged to a computer, sometimes safely removing takes a long time

7.    It typically takes 6 hours to charge

8.    When plugged to a computer, notification settings will revert back to default (I’m Using GoSms Pro)
9.  It has a very impressive 8Mp Cameras with hell of a lot of options to choose from

10.    THE 3-DAY BATTERY LIFE IS NOT TRUE BUT THIS IS NOT A BAD THING

NUMBER 10 DESERVES JUSTIFICATION!

            Yes I know that I said this phone can probably last a month with light use, but what the hell did you buy this phone for? Android phones are meant to be used, even abused. Personally, I think it is the best Operating System out there for its straight-forward and hassle free usage. Want to play a music? Copy paste, want to play a game? download an apk from the web or simply download from playstore! Want to play a movie? Copy paste, you can play virtually any video on an Android phone, as the numerous apps will let you play almost any video file you can think of. Unlike Symbian phones, you can download hundred thousand of apps for free, you don't even need to hack your phone to run simple games and apps.  Unlike iOs, you don't need to be locked to Apple-only products when transferring files, music or anything. If you would use this phone for texting, get a freaking Nokia 101 for crying out loud, even Nokia 3310 will fit your need nicely. For an Android Phone to be able to play 4 Hours music, 4 hours video, 2 Hours  HD Gaming(NBA 2k13), almost 4 hours call at  MAX BRIGHTNESS on ONE SINGLE CHARGE, that sure is darn impressive! This result was almost already duplicated today as my usage of an android phone is redundant.  For me, the bogus 3-day battery life is not a big deal breaker as it has pretty much served me well. If anyone would ask me if Cloudfone Thrill is a recommended device I would say yes with two thumbs up!

               Finally acquiring the Cloudfone Thrill 430x, the Triple Threat Match Up of the Year is about to start, if you find a better triple threat match up with phones available today under P8000 let me know. Individually, each phone packs a punch, First competitor is Cherry Mobile Titan, first out the market yet continue to be most elusive of the three. It sports a 5 Inch 800x480 display and a relatively good 2350mah Battery. Next up, is the MyPhone A919 Duo. Recently released 5 inch 854x480 mammoth by MyPhone, the heavier price tag is not a hindrance as it sports a better camera and display than that of the Titan, stress test also showed an impressive batter life. Finally comes the smaller but fatter yet also as deadly, Cloudfone Thrill 430x. Having only 4.3 Inch, it makes up with its gargantuan 4160Mah Battery partnered with QHD Display and also sporting an equally impressive audio output, the clash of these three is inevitable.

               

DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE MY PREFERENCE, I’M NOT SAYING WHAT I PICKED IS BETTER, WHAT I PICK IS WHAT I PREFER.

1.       BOX CONTENTS

The three packages carry a USB Cable, Charger, Headset, and Manuals. The Titan has a free flip cover whereas the MyPhone has a free CD. The USB Cable of the A919 is much rugged than that of the Titan, in addition, the stock headset on MyPhone A919 is much better than that of the Titan. Cloudfone offers a free globe sim. 430x’s stock headset does not dis appoint either.

COOL DISCOVERIES:

·         Using the A919 headset on the Titan gives you great audio output, louder volume, cleaner sounds and additional instruments.

·         Cloudfone’s  stock headset is the most universal among the three as it was able to work on both Titan and MyPhone along with other phones like Nokia N86

·         Cloudfone also packs a pre-installed CD Installer

·         MyPhone carries PinoyApp which gives you tons of Filipino things, pre-installed are some prayers like 6pm prayer, 9pm prayer, Angelus and 6am prayer.

Winner: MyPhone A919 – I Just love the pre-installed Pinoy apps

2. PHONE SUPERFICIALITY

                This part is by an individual’s preference, the Titan only comes in black, and it is the heaviest of the three, A919 is said to come in Black and white, though I am yet to see a black A919, Cloudfone comes only in black. A919 and Titan both sport a 5 Inch Screen and the Cloudfone has 4.3 Inch, I have to point out that 430x is the fattest and A919 is the slimmest. Out of all the three, only the 430x has a dedicated camera button. Lastly, the three phones all have finger print magnetic backs with 430x walking away with its very touchy back.

                Winner: TIE between Titan and A919 – I just hate the fatness of the Thrill

                

3. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

3.1 Speakers

                A staple for rebranders is its speaker. As said on my previous clash, Titan vs A919, both phones offer superb loudspeaker prowess. Unfortunately for the 430x it performs behind both as its loudspeaker is observatively, YES OBSERVATIVELY IS NOT A WORD, softer than Titan or A919. Fortunately for 430x, I have to give it the best Audio output headsets attached, it may be due to its Built-in YAMAHA music amplifier with AAC speaker, I don’t know, but it has the best sound.

                Winner: Cloudfone Thrill 430x

                        I highly doubt anyone would play movies with their phones in loudspeaker. Music playing is just much better in Cloudfone.

                

3.2 Display

                This is the part where the Cherry Mobile Titan quietly walks away and gets a break. Display of the Titan is obviously the worst among the Three, its 800x480 display makes it look anaemic compared to A919 and 430x. Pitting the two, I had a hard time choosing. MyPhone has the bigger screen but Cloudfone shows much more on a screen than the A919 does. Display on both phones is beautiful and Colourful!

                Winner: TIE between MyPhone A919 and Cloudfone 430x

                *** A919 and 430x both sport a 5 Point Multi-Touch whereas the Titan only has two. An update is scheduled for the Titan to sport a 5 Point Multi-touch so wait for it.

3.3 Gaming

                Ok so as I have mentioned gaming will be based on smoothness. After a break by the Titan, he comes back to send 430x on a break. Playing with 430x is not bad, but it’s just not made for HD Gaming. Mainstream games played fine on the three phones. NBA 2k13 was tested on all the phones; I had the problem of repeatedly accessing all the three of them first before the game actually starts. Lags are apparent on the three devices at start but it will soon wear off. The 30fps problems are observable on A919 but, FOR ME; it has played it most smoothly.

                Winner: MyPhone A919

                Another point that makes the Titan bullied, Titan images are just horrendous. You may think this is another hard decision making for A919 VS the 430x happy to say it’s not as I will reward the win to Cloudfone as it has been able to shoot images when the object moves. Shooting still shots is pretty much the same for both A919 and 430x but when an object or a person moves A919 blurs the image and destroys it. Fortunately for 430x it has performed well.

3.5 Need for Speed

                                     

RAM and Clockspeed Review

  Many of you might wonder, what is RAM and the Clockspeed for? Should I go for higher RAM, less clock or vice versa? The answer depends on how you use the phone. Random Access Memory (RAM) is used to determine how many apps your unit can run simultaneously. So bigger RAM means you can multi-task much more applications without worrying about lagging on the system.

                Clockspeed is used to determine how fast your system will run a certain application. Simply put, higher Clockspeed means faster phone. THIS IS THE GENERAL IDEA ON RAM AND CLOCKSPEED. Factors on speed are also determined by the chipset architecture, GPU, etc.

                Both Titan and A919 carry Mediatek MT6577 1GHz dual-core processor with the same PowerVR SGX531 GPU whereas Cloudfone uses 1.2GHz dual-core qualcomm snapdragon processor. Unfortunately for the latter, I observed it to only be a relatively faster Flare which is disappointing for its price range. Given that it has more RAM at 768Mb, I still prefer the former.

                Winner: TIE between Cherry Mobile Titan and MyPhone A919

               

3.6 User-Friendliness

                The three sport Android 4.0.4 on release. Exploring the phones, you get the same pre-installed apps and same launcher. MyPhone edges the competition with its rich number of pre-installed wallpapers and live wallpapers. Finally, those who are interested in flashing Custom Roms will find happiness and delight with the fact that Micromax A110 Roms work on the A919. (This is according to the TCP Users, check this thread, do some reading for yourself.) It is worth reminding that using Cloudfone Thrill 430x when it is not held is a pain.

                Winner: MyPhone A919

                More flexibility more features, much better.

3.7 Battery

                This is definitely a No-Brainer. Cloudfone skyrockets itself away from the two with its amazing battery life. I am yet to stress the phone but so far I am greatly impressed. The doubt as to if any Rebrander could give a good battery life especially with Android OS ends here!

CONCLUSION 

THE LIGHT IS STILL MY STRENGTH …

                This maybe a douchy thing to say but the winner will be you! I am not kidding as I am surely sure that any of the three is a bang for the buck. The choices will always boil down to personal preference. I solved my problem by acquiring the three phones. Budget Stricken? Go with the Titan! Want a big phone for great for movies? Go with MyPhone! Want a phone that fits your hand? Go with Cloudfone! Want a phone that lasts more than a day or two? Go with Cloudfone! The questions are endless and I am only here to give you some advice. But if I was to be asked, which I preferred of the three? I would say MyPhone A919. So for now, FOR ME, MyPhone A919 is a two time Rebrander Champion! YEHEEY!

AGAIN, THESE ARE BASED ON MY PREFERENCE; I DON’T THINK ANY OF THE THREE IS A BAD CHOICE.
