So
there I was, going to swap my Omega to a Blaze with Powerbank. I don’t know why
I did not follow my gut but I still went and push through to deal with a
pathetic excuse for an unprofessional human being. We texted at Monday (March
18, 2013) for the swap and agreed to meet on Wednesday for I had a baccalaureate
mass on Tuesday. Prior to the deal he was haggling me like crazy, texting me continuously
asking me if the deal was to push through. I have a good clean record on
TipidCp and I told him to check the hell out of my account. He was insistently
pestering me on how good his unit was. Secretly, I was like, I know how to read
reviews on the internet. Early Wednesday, I had a tremendous feel that this
swapper would do a last second back out because of this:
I felt so dumb to have gone all the
way from Munoz to Robinsons Galleria to have a ridiculous ‘swapper’ demo my
unit. When we were at Galleria he tested the unit for a God Damn Hour! Only to
tell me he will not take it because it had a low contrast. I told
him that the contrast was low and I told him to watch the video
on YouTube or at least read other reviews on the net. The moment he told me
that he was not going to take my Phone, which was in pristine condition, I was
filled with anger and rage. The hot weather didn’t help either. I walked out on
him because I did not want to waste more time to listen to his excuses. Over the phone he told me:
Asshole Swapper: ‘Alanganamang kunin ko yung unit mo kung
hindi ko nagustuhan?’
This is
with no doubt the most idiotic excuse ever. To make things worse he did not
even apologize to his actions, a simple sorry would have suffice but no he had
to tell me that because I was young and he backed out I was immature to walk
out. WTF 90% would do the same thing after you made him go all the way to an
uncomfortable place just to have your unit tested and not taken. I posted a Negative Feedback on his TCP account; this was to my
disadvantage as he had NO FEEDBACK MEANING HE COULD JUST MAKE ANOTHER ACCOUNT.
What the hell am I supposed to
learn from this? I admit I walked out but you backed out after you made
me go all the way to ROBINSONS GALLERIA where my meeting place was only up to
SM North Edsa. No matter which angle you look the main story is: YOU COULD HAVE
JUST GONE TO A CHERRY MOBILE STORE AND DEMO AN OMEGA THERE, NOT DRAG A SELLER
TO A FAR AWAY PLACE TO HAVE HIS UNIT TESTED. HIS TIME, EFFORT, AND MONEY WILL
BE WASTED.
Cherry does not let you demo a unit if it’s not available?
NO SHIT SHERLOCK
It’s not my problem if Cherry does
not have a unit. Be patient. You’re going to tell me I was also
impatient? Who wouldn’t get angry over what the hell you put me through?
I had 26 Positive Feedbacks before
this. Now I am
left with a dent while he can go make a third account or another account for I don’t
know how many times. BEWARE EVERYONE. WORST DEAL EVER. I HOPE YOU SEE THIS .

The
first Rebranded Jellybean is out and I’m really surprised that it did not make
a major dent on society as I seldom hear people talking about it, as of now
Flare is still on top by reasons I don’t know why. Cherry Mobile Omega is
something I wanted to try out since it came out but due to my stressful and
hectic schedule as a graduating student I did not have time for it. ALWAYS KNOW YOUR PRIORITIES MGA TROPA! ARAL
MUNA : ) Now all I have to do is, hopefully, wait for April 4 :>
Finally, I had time to get my blog back on track with a review of the firsts
Cherry Mobile released, Cherry Mobile Omega! So does this device have a leg to
stand on or its just another rebranded phone released? Read on and find out!
1. THE PACKAGE (8.1 out of 10)
1.1 The BOX
Purple-colored box
with descriptions at the box you see on almost every Cherry mobile release,
nothing new nothing special. Seriously, I’m getting sick and tired of the same
old box haha. Not complaining, I know it takes time to manufacture a box,
nevertheless the box actually looks nice.
1.2 What’s in the Box?
Cherry Mobile Omega
offers nothing that has already been seen and tested over the past few months;
the Charger even looks the same as that of the Flare. The package includes: the
charger, standard earphones, and a USB Cable. YES THIS IS COPY PASTED FROM CherryMobile Burst Review
2. PHONE SUPERFICIALITY (8.7 out of
10)
Cherry Mobile Omega is a 5.2 Inch Screen phone that may appear like a
Note 1 to some people, especially when the back is viewed from afar, but when
you actually hold it, it does not feel rugged the Capacitive touch buttons are
very unattractive and the build is similar to the Titan. The top houses the
3.5mm jack and the power button whereas the side and the bottom has the voume
rocker and the microUSB port respectively. Overall it does not have enough
oomph to make it feel an executive/branded phone.
3. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
3.1 Speakers (9.6 out of 10)
Cherry Mobile Omega has done it again! Same as with the Burst it has loud
speakers, headset attached or loudspeakers. Distortions maybe noticed at
maximum volume on Loudspeakers but headsets attached, the audio quality is loud
and clear.
Cherry Mobile Omega sports a 5.2 Inch screen with an WVGA Screen. It has
ROUGHLY the same screen display as that of the Titan and Skyfire but with a bit
more detail and less pixelations. One or two may agree that its screen is
slightly better than the aforementioned phones. In addition, Omega has bad
screen brightness, my screen is always set at its highest because lower
settings can get very dark, sometimes almost unreadable.
As for
Video Playback, Omega breaks the barriers with its ability to play 720p videos,
at least for a 225MB 720p video, everything under and in between works fine.
(Check The Video). Again I highly recommend MX Player Pro for hassle free video
playback.
3.3 Gaming (8.3 out of 10)
Android is known
for its huge number of games and its ability to run on it virtually any
Android-powered device. Omega is no exception to this power as it was able to
play mainstream games VERY SMOOTHLY. Games such as Jetpack Joyride, Fruit
Ninja, Temple Run, Flow, etc. Played fantastically smoothly with minimal to no
lags. As for HD Gaming, I was not able to play any HD Games except for Final
Fantasy III, FF3 played fine, if you are going to ask why I was not able to
play NBA 2k13 or NOVA 3, I tried but it keeps force closing, unit to unit I
guess. Though THEORETICALLY, it should run NBA 2k13 smoothly.
3.4 Camera (4.4 out of 10)
These Images are from Cherry Mobile Omega.
As much as sound has improved over
the last few Cherry Mobile Products, its camera seems to falter, undeniable
trade off on rebranded phones. Cherry Mobile Omega seems to have a camera
similar to that of the Titan meaning it not meant for the job, I don’t know but
the colors are far from what I see and dark parts seem to be darker.
3.5 Need for Speed (9.3 out of 10)
RAM and Clockspeed Review
Many
of you might wonder, what are RAM and the Clockspeed for? Should I go for
higher RAM, fewer clocks or vice versa? The answer depends on how you use the
phone. Random Access Memory (RAM) is used to determine how many apps your unit
can run simultaneously. So bigger RAM means you can multi-task much more applications
without worrying about lagging on the system.
Clockspeed is used to determine how fast your system will run a certain
application. Simply put, higher Clockspeed means faster phone. THIS IS THE
GENERAL IDEA ON RAM AND CLOCKSPEED. Factors on speed are also determined by the
chipset architecture, GPU, etc.
Cherry Mobile Omega, along with
MyPhone A888 were two of the phones RUMORED TO SPORT A QUAD-CORE PROCESSOR. I
don’t know where those rumors came from but everyone was dismayed when both
only had Two Cores. Sporting a 1GHz Dual Core Mediatek processor, Omega
experience is fast and smooth, granted a slow start-up, memory card reading was
fast and navigating is much smoother and faster than other rebranded phones.
Late last year most of us were teased that this was to sport 1GB RAM to
everyone’s dismay, it is another 512MB RAM phone. Unless you multi-task
frequently, the 512MB Ram should be fine.
As for its Internal Storage, 500MB (WHY ONLY
500? BURST HAS 700!!) is dedicated to apps and 2.05GB is user accessible (Nope
still prefer more memory for apps).
3.6 User-Friendliness (9.5 out of 10)
This is the first Jellybean on a rebranded phone, if you want to know
more about Jellybean improvements over ICS better read this:
Well if you don’t want to
read that here is the summary of the said website:
(Note: Credits to
UberGizmo, Ma Sotto pa ako hahaha, also the following would be Jellybean update
which can be observed on the Omega)
·Project Butter – MOST Android Phones show significant lag with respect to responsiveness,
you will notice this if you have a Windows or the smooth Apple phones, if you
have a low end Android this is noticeable to, this Project gives the Android a
huge boost in response time and fluidity, and with what I have seen with the
Omega, it was, compared to other rebranded ICS phones, significantly faster,
swiping screen, loading and playing games, etc.
·Widget Resizing- Yes this is present on Omega, you can resize most widgets :>
·Predictive Keyboard – not only is the Stock keyboard adaptive, its also predictive, the more
you text the more it learns the pattern of your texts, after a short while if
you type ‘good’ options such as day, night, morning, afternoon, etc. will
automatically pop-up.
·Offline Voice Typing – unfortunately for me, or for Omega, I was not able to voice type
offline, though it has an amazing voice to text recognition, its definitely not
Siri but it was nice to have that.
·Camera- yes, Omega also has a Jellybean camera, but due to its bad camera, errr
I don’t know
·New Search Interface – Omega also has a new search interface, though it’s a bit disappointing
that presseing the menu button for a few seconds does not bring the search bar
·New Notifications Bar- Yes I tried it and you can actually read messages directly from the
notification Panel, NEAT!
·Google Now, Better Voice Search – these two requires internet connection, if only Globe, Smart or any
other company offer us more affordable internet we would all be so happy.
With all
the aforementioned improvements tech geeks will surely get excited, if you are
on Data Plan you will get much more excited due to Google Now and the improved
Voice Search! Using Android, as I said before needs, nothing but common sense.
I don’t even think reading skills are needed as my three year old niece can
navigate my phone to play Games. Customization combinations are second to none
with the Android OS.
3.7 Battery (8.7 out of 10)
Omega has a 2300mah battery and it
actually packs quite a juice, it definitely last you a whole student day
(7am-3pm) on extensive usage, by extreme I meant 1 Hour HD Games, 2 Hours
Casual gaming, etc.
CONCLUSION
OMeGash! (8.42 Out of 10)
* Performance is 70%, Package and
Looks are both 15% for the total of 100% YEHEY I KNOW MATH :))
Cherry Mobile released
another monster of a phone, bringing with it Jellybean skyrockets this device
to other phones of same price range! With respect to the Titan, there is a lot
and I mean a whole lot of improvement on this phone. For the price of P6699,
its actually a good buy as it offers you an OS which was released just a few
months back. A clincher to this phone is its ability to play 720p videos along
with the Project Butter that actually offers you faster and smoother android
experience. Barring its WVGA display, ugly aesthetics and abysmal camera, this
phone packs the punch that one or two maybe looking for.

After
releasing Cherry Mobile Flare, arguably the hottest rebranded phone EVER as of
now, Cherry had continuously released and released and released numerous phones
that I can’t even keep up with the pace. Recently, Cherry released a phone with
arguable same specifications as that of the Flare, barring the lower clock of
Burst. Now, only one question comes, which phone is better? The answer will be
viewed on my next blog entry. For now let us look at the Cherry Mobile Burst,
see if it can be a fitting proxy for the Flare.
NOTE: FILIPINO TIME ANG REVIEW NA ITO =))))))))
1. THE PACKAGE (8.1 out of 10)
1.1 The BOX
Carmel-colored box
with descriptions at the box you see on almost every Cherry mobile release,
nothing new nothing special.
1.2 What’s in the Box?
Cherry Mobile Burst
offers nothing that has already been seen and tested over the past few months;
the Charger even looks the same as that of the Flare. The package includes: the
charger, standard earphones, and a USB Cable.
2. PHONE SUPERFICIALITY (9.7 out of
10)
Cherry Mobile Cruize is a 4 Inch Screen phone that strongly resembles a
Nexus phone which makes it a very expensive looking phone at first sight. It is
sleek and sexy. As with most of the phones of this Generation, the sides offer
the volume rocker and the power button and the top and bottom houses the 3.5mm
jack and the microUSB port respectively. Overall this has to be the one of the
best looking rebranded phone out there.
3. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
3.1 Speakers (9.4 out of 10)
Cherry Mobile has captured my heart once more with sound quality goodness
of the Cherry Mobile Cruize, as I said before, Cherry had been a sinusoidal
brand but that belief was broken by this phones’ amazing audio output. It has a
loud loudspeaker with little distortion at maximum volume and it also has great
audio quality headsets attached. Definitely better than Flare or SkyFire.
Cherry Mobile Burst sports a 4 Inch screen with an 800x480 resolution. It
also has IPS display. Having the aforementioned specifications, Burst has a
nice display with a nice blend of saturation; the IPS display gives you great
viewing angles.
As for
Video Playback, Burst also suffers the inability to play 720p videos, but
everything under works fine. I have tested a 720p 225MB, 480p 65MB video, 777MB
Video and a WMV file and both played smoothly. Again I highly recommend MX
Player Pro for hassle free video playback.
3.3 Gaming (7.9 out of 10)
Android is known
for its huge number of games and its ability to run on it virtually any
Android-powered device. Burst is no exception to this power as it was able to
play mainstream games very smoothly. As for HD Gaming, it runs NBA 2k13 but
gameplay is definitely not as smooth as you may want, it’s tolerable but not
recommended. For the nth time, Qualcomm chips on rebranded phones do not play
HD Games well, Mediatek’s MT6577 chips will give you smoother and better gaming
experience if you want cheap HD Android gaming.
Stick to Casual Gaming with Cherry Mobile Burst!
3.4 Camera (6.4 out of 10)
These Images are from Cherry Mobile Burst.
Finally a Titan-like phone, photos are quite nice when viewed normally but zooming shows you a different story. It has a nice saturation. Though I
would like to point out that its stock camera does not have a very good
Auto-focus, macro-shooting can be a pain. I’m pretty sure some camera
applications on the market will fill this hole nicely.
3.5 Need for Speed (8.7 out of 10)
RAM and Clockspeed Review
Many
of you might wonder, what are RAM and the Clockspeed for? Should I go for higher
RAM, fewer clocks or vice versa? The answer depends on how you use the phone.
Random Access Memory (RAM) is used to determine how many apps your unit can run
simultaneously.
Sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm processor
partnered with a 512MB RAM, Burst was able to perform miniscule applications
smoothly, swiping between screens is a fast and smooth. The only lags I noticed
were loading my fully-loaded SD Card. Other than that the phone runs pretty
smoothly. Again lags on HD Games is very apparent especially if you have filled
your RAM.
As for its Internal Storage, 1GB is generously
dedicated to apps and 1.88GB is user accessible.
3.6 User-Friendliness (8.9 out of 10)
Another ICS powered device, if you have been a fan of my blog, you know
that I will definitely say that Android is a very user friendly OS that only
requires common sense in navigating. I don’t even think reading skills are
needed as my three year old niece can navigate my phone to play Games.
Customization combinations are second to none with the Android OS.
NOTE: BURST ONLY
HAS A TWO POINT MULTITOUCH
3.7 Battery (8.5 out of 10)
Burst sports a measly 1500mah battery
but I have noticed significant battery improvements over the Flare on INITIAL USE. I don’t think Burst’s
battery will outlast the Flare greatly but initial observations show Burst has
the better one. I have fully charged the Burst yesterday(March 11) at about
9am, and played music for about 4 Hours with a Bluetooth headset, with slight
texting, it still has 35% as of now (March 12, 9.30am).
CONCLUSION
BURSTING WITH FLYING COLORS! (8.61 Out
of 10)
* Performance is 70%, Package and
Looks are both 15% for the total of 100% YEHEY I KNOW MATH :))
Cherry Mobile
attempted to release another Cherry Mobile Flarey phone. Initially I suspected
it to be painstakingly similar but it has shown drastic improvements on sounds
and few tweaks to Cherry Mobile Flare, though on some aspects, Flare still
outshines Burst, I will quickly do a follow up review pitting both but setting
the Flare aside, Burst may need to get credit more than it deserve as it is
truly another phone that packs quite a punch without doing so on your wallet.
Burst has performed well on tasks I need a phone to perform well and it is
Music, Camera, and Video Playback, if these three are also what you look for a
phone, then Burst maybe for you to!
